Custom Hotel Furniture India — How to Order Bespoke Hospitality Furniture

By The Royal Safe Company · Manufacturing since 1934 · Updated July 2026

Most hotel furniture available "off the shelf" from Indian manufacturers will not perfectly fit your rooms, match your brand colour, or carry your hotel's design identity. Custom and bespoke hotel furniture — made precisely to your designer's drawings — is the right answer for any property above budget category. Here is how the process works, what it costs, and what to watch for.

What "Custom Hotel Furniture" Actually Means in India

In the Indian manufacturing context, there are three levels of customisation, each with different cost and lead time implications:

Level 1 — Standard Products, Custom Dimensions

The manufacturer's standard product (wardrobe, writing desk, locker) is made to your specific dimensions rather than the catalogue size. This is the most common customisation and carries the smallest premium — typically 10–15% above standard pricing. Lead time impact: minimal, as the process and materials are standard.

Level 2 — Custom Design, Standard Materials

Entirely new product design drawn to your or your interior designer's specifications, using the manufacturer's standard materials (CRCA steel, standard laminate, standard hardware). This requires design sign-off time and a prototype before full production. Premium: 20–35% above comparable standard product. Lead time impact: add 3–4 weeks for prototyping.

Level 3 — Fully Bespoke (Custom Design, Specified Materials)

Custom design using specified materials — particular veneer species, custom lacquer colour, imported hardware, stone or metal accents. Every material is sourced specifically for your project. This is genuine bespoke manufacturing. Premium: 40–100%+ above standard products, depending on material complexity. Lead time impact: add 4–8 weeks for material procurement and prototyping.

The Custom Hotel Furniture Process — Step by Step

01

Brief & Concept

You provide your interior designer's concept boards, mood images, and initial sketches. If you do not have a designer, share reference images of the style you want — Marriott, Hyatt, ITC brand books are useful reference points. We assess feasibility and provide a ballpark budget range within 48 hours.

02

Technical Drawings

Our production team converts the design concept into manufacturing drawings — elevation, plan, section, and detail drawings for every piece. These are shared with you and your designer for review and revision. This phase typically takes 1–2 weeks and may involve 2–3 revision rounds.

03

Material Selection & Samples

You select specific materials from our supplier range or specify your own. We provide physical material samples — laminate chips, veneer samples, hardware pieces, paint swatches — for in-person approval. Do not approve materials from digital images alone; colours and textures read very differently on screen vs. in hand.

04

Prototype / Sample Room

Before full production, we manufacture one complete room set (or one of each furniture type for complex projects). You inspect and approve the prototype physically. This is the most important step in the custom process — changes made at prototype stage cost a fraction of changes made during full production.

05

Production Sign-Off & Deposit

After prototype approval, you sign off on the production specification sheet and place the order with the agreed deposit (typically 40–50%). The specification sheet is the binding reference for the entire order — it documents every dimension, material, colour, and hardware choice.

06

Full Production with Milestone QC

Production begins with quality checks at each stage: raw material verification, structural completion, surface finish, and final assembly. Progress photos are sent at each milestone. For large orders, you or your project manager can visit the factory during production.

07

Pre-Delivery Inspection & Dispatch

Final inspection of the complete order before packing. For export orders, a third-party inspection certificate is available. Goods are packed according to the agreed packing specification — typically custom cartons with corner protection and stretch wrap for delicate finishes.
