Steel or Wood for Office Furniture?

Many offices mix the two: wooden or laminate desks and meeting tables where looks matter, and steel for almirahs, filing cabinets, lockers, racks and safes, which take the most daily wear and need to stay locked and square for years. Our office storage planning guide explains which storage format suits which records.

Ordering Tips for a New Office

  1. Start from the floor plan. Mark desks, cabins and meeting rooms on the plan before counting furniture.
  2. Plan for growth. Add 10–20% spare desks if you expect to hire in the next year; matching later pieces is easier from the same manufacturer.
  3. Sort storage by what is stored. Active files go in filing cabinets near desks, archives in almirahs or shelving, and original documents in a fireproof cabinet.
  4. Order storage with the desks. Steel storage and lockers from one maker arrive together and match in colour.
  5. Check what the quote covers. Compare GST, delivery and installation on every quote.
