Plan Your Rooms
Home / Export Buyer Tools / Accommodation Planner

For hotel staff housing, worker accommodation, student hostels and dormitories. Enter how many people you need to house and your room size. The planner lays out the room, works out how many rooms you need, and lists the bunk beds, lockers and storage to order.

Use the figure your local regulation, brand standard or university requires. Rules differ by country and employer.
How the layout works

How many bunk beds fit in a room

A single-size bunk bed takes about 2.0 × 0.95 m of floor. The planner lines beds up with their heads against the long walls, leaves 0.6 m between beds and keeps a 0.9 m walkway down the middle. It reserves 1 m at the door and a strip for lockers on the far wall.

It then checks the floor area per person you set. In a large room the area rule, not the number of beds that fit, usually decides how many people can share. The lower of the two is used.

What we supply

Furniture for staff and student housing

We make steel bunk beds with under-bunk drawers, full-height and multi-door steel lockers, 2-door steel wardrobes and study desks in our Sonipat factory. Everything ships flat-packed with fixing kits, so a 40ft container carries a whole floor of rooms.

Accommodation planning — frequently asked questions

How many bunk beds fit in a room?

Allow about 2.0 × 0.95 m per single-size bunk bed, 0.6 m between beds and a 0.9 m walkway. A 6 × 5 m room fits 6 bunk beds (12 people) by space, but at 4 m² per person the floor-area rule limits it to 7 people. The planner shows both limits for your room.

How much space does each worker or student need?

It depends on the country, employer and building type, so the planner lets you set the figure. Many staff housing and hostel standards fall between about 3 and 6 m² of floor area per person. Use the figure your regulation or brand standard sets.

Should I choose lockers or wardrobes for staff housing?

Lockers with one door per person are easiest to manage in shared rooms because everyone has a lockable space. Two-door wardrobes give more hanging space and suit longer stays or two people per room.

Can the bunk beds be shipped flat-packed?

Yes. Our steel bunk beds, lockers and wardrobes ship flat-packed with fixing kits and assembly drawings, which cuts container space by more than half compared with assembled furniture.
